Objectives
Participants have a better understanding of how the environment relates to their area of work/cooperation sector and are more capable of identifying and implementing appropriate actions to integrate the environment (including climate change-related aspects) at the various stages of the cycle of operations and in relation to the main aid delivery methods.
Target audience
Staff involved in the programming and/or management of EC development co-operation activities, in Delegations and partner organisations.
Contents
- Concepts and definitions. Rationale for environmental and climate change integration in development co-operation
- Links with the various sectors of intervention
- The policy context
- Environmental integration in multi-annual programming (including mid-term reviews)
- Tools and methods for integrating the environment (including climate change aspects) in projects, sector policy support programmes and general budget support
- Integration tools include Country Environmental Profiles, the “green” logical framework, Environmental Impact Assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment and Environmental Performance Review.
The programme will familiarise participants with the EC
Environmental Integration Handbook. It includes a series of
presentations, practical exercises and case studies which will enable
participants to more effectively integrate the environment into their
work.
