Start by checking whether specific environment-related remarks or commitments were made in the programming documents (Country Strategy Paper and National Indicative Programme). For instance, a commitment could have been made to undertake a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in relation to the sector programme. Also have a look at the Country Environmental Profile (CEP), if one exists. Some information, findings and/or recommendations may be relevant to the sector your programme will support.

You want to know how to screen the sector programme in order to determine whether an SEA will be required in the Formulation phase

You are unsure about the possible impacts of the sector programme on the environment, or how environmental factors may affect the success and sustainability of activities in the sector programme, or which entry points for environmental integration may exist in relation to it. Annex 1
