Start by checking whether specific environment-related remarks or commitments were made in the programming documents (Country Strategy Paper and National Indicative Programme). For instance, a commitment could have been made to undertake a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in relation to the national policy/strategy to be supported. Also review the Country Environmental Profile (CEP), and any available SEA or equivalent analytical work that might be available from other development partners. Some information, findings and/or recommendations may be relevant for the EC programme of support to the national policy/strategy.
