Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment
Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment (SIA) is a process undertaken during trade negotiations which seeks to identify the potential economic, social and environmental impacts of a trade agreement. It has the following two main purposes:
- to integrate sustainability into trade policy by informing negotiators of the possible social, environmental and economic consequences of a trade agreement; and
- to make information on the potential impacts available to all actors.
